Queensland East Coast
A loose road journey from Bargara north through cane fields, ranges, island water and bright tropical coast.
This set is less about one place than the movement between them — the way the colour, weather and distance shift as the road heads north.
First light on the coast
The journey begins low and open, with the coastline already pulling north.
Stop 01
Bargara
Blue water, pale sand and the settled edge of the coast before the road stretches further north.
North through ranges and water
The coast gives way to rainforest, rock pools and quieter inland places.
Stop 02
Finch Hatton and Eungella
A cooler shift in the trip — green valleys, running water and small moments of stillness.
Open distance
The landscape stretches out again, with mountains sitting low across water and haze.
Stop 03
Lake Proserpine
A stiller part of the road — less coastal brightness, more distance and weather.
Into the tropics
The colour lifts again around Townsville — harder light, dry rock and bright blue water.
Stop 04
Townsville
A higher, brighter section of the trip where the coast starts to feel more tropical.
Island pause
Magnetic Island slows the page down again — water, animals, and a longer look toward the horizon.
Stop 05
Magnetic Island
The road briefly leaves the road — across water, into heat, granite, wildlife and jetty lines.
